Trending Colors for Fall
As the leaves change colors with the season, you may consider changing the color
palette in your home. It’s the perfect time to embrace the warm hues of fall with a fresh
coat of paint. Autumn is the most colorful season, offering rich and moody shades of
brown and green, and vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red.
An earthy color scheme will bring the natural warmth and coziness of fall into any room.
Shades of light brown and cream are beginning to replace gray as the neutral color of
choice this season.
Gray brings a cooler tone to the space, and brown creates a warmer
feeling while keeping to an earthy palette. Neutral colors act as a great base layer to
accent with other colorful decor. Some of my personal favorite neutrals are Macadamia,
and Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams. Macadamia is a beautiful light brown shade that
pairs well with green tones, and dark wood accents. Greek Villa is the perfect creamy
color to be the backdrop for fall tones. A neutral foundation color allows you to add seasonal touches all year.
Green hues are trending right now. It is being used more often as a neutral base color
as well. A perfect example of this is shown in one of our recent interior paint projects.
Our talented paint crew used Svelte Sage by Sherwin Williams to paint all of the main
living areas in this home. This soft shade of green complements the dark wood flooring,
white trim, and pops of color throughout the rooms. Whether it is a deep olive green or a
muted sage, the use of green paint colors will bring the natural feeling of the outdoors
into your home. Dried Thyme by Sherwin Williams offers a darker sophisticated look to
elevate any space. This paint color can be easily paired with light tones to brighten the
room or rich dark shades for a more moody vibe.
If you want to make a statement in your home this fall, bold vibrant or rich dark colors
are the way to go. It can be intimidating to paint an entire room in a color that isn’t a
traditional neutral, so accent walls or colorful cabinetry are a good way to achieve that statement look. Umber Rust by Sherwin Williams is a color that just feels like fall.
This shade of brown creates a comforting environment because it is a moodier neutral color. Umber Rust would be a great kitchen island or lower cabinet color, paired with lighter upper cabinets for balance.
Butternut and Saucy Gold by Sherwin Williams are two colors that can be used to bring fall colors into your space as an accent color.
The muted yellow shade of Butternut is warm and inviting. It would look beautiful painted on
a front door with a leafy orange and red wreath hanging on it. Saucy Gold is a bit more
of a bold shade that looks almost burnt orange. This vibrant color feels like walking
through a pumpkin patch as colorful leaves fall to the ground. It’s a great accent color to
introduce in your home decor this season.
